INTRO

In the near future, a family is separated from each other while fleeing their country ravaged by climate change. The family’s child arrives alone in a deserted city where wild animals have claimed the streets and finds unlikely allies in this strange new jungle.

Akram Khan’s new contemporary dance work is based on Rudyard Kipling’s beloved classic Jungle Book. Khan and his team retell the journey of Mowgli through the eyes of a climate refugee. Jungle Book reimagined is a powerful and fascinating tale of our need to belong and connect with other people and nature.

The show will feature ten top international dancers as well as breathtaking animation and stage art. Jungle Book reimagined is a magical world that dives into the myths of today.

Akram Khan’s imaginative and approachable works that examine current themes have lifted him to the forefront as one of the best-known and highly-appraised dance artists of our time.

The work is recommended for ages ten and above.

The event is organized by the Helsinki Festival.
